My City Underwater

I've been sitting in my house for the last 3 days. Two days were due to rain and flooding, the 3rd (today) because we were asked by the Mayor so the government could maneuver around the city a little easier to give aid to the people that needed it.

While sitting here, I have became frustrated by the lack of ex-poser our "little" flood is receiving. I understand there are "other", "more pressing" stories that the news channels would like for you to buy into but when I find more information about our city on the BBC website, well, it just pisses me off. The oil spill in the Gulf was man made and should have been taken care of last week. But, we as a mass were led to believe that it wasn't a big deal (who's pockets were padded by the oil industries? We should ask for their head on a platter). Then there was a bomb scare in Times Square. While news, it didn't go off and disrupt life (Who dropped the ball in Homeland Security?) and now I hear that the immigration law in Arizona is bigger news than us. Who's losing their life over that one?

My last point is this, I've tried hard the last few years to avoid all political coverage or cable news in general as it causes anxiety and anger to the point that I can not concentrate on anything else. But do you think things would be different if this was an election year? Other than the Mayor and Gov, I've not seen ONE Representative or Senator from the state of Tennessee on TV and I've been watching ALL 3 days.
